Professor Jose E. Cohen is a graduate summa cum laude of the National University of Rosario Medical School, Argentina.

Following his graduation in 1990, he was trained in Neurosurgery at the Emergencies Hospital of Rosario (HECA) and was appointed chief resident of the Neurosurgery Department on 1996. From 1997-2001, Professor Cohen underwent postgraduate training in the field of Endovascular Neurosurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology in ENERI Buenos Aires, one of the most prestigious international institutions in neurovascular pathology.

During these training years in endovascular techniques, he actively worked as neurosurgeon and was appointed chief neurosurgeon of the institution and obtained a SILAN scholarship. During these years he gained a valuable experience in the management of patients suffering from trauma, tumors, complex vascular lesions, hemorrhages and spinal pathology.

On 2001, he was recruited to join the Neurosurgery Department at Hadassah and founded the Endovascular Neurosurgery Center for the treatment of stroke. On 2005, he was appointed Professor of Medicine at Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

Professor Cohen's main research interests include the following:

1. Endovascular therapies for cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and dural fistulas

2. New therapies for carotid artery pathology. Stent angioplasty of intracranial and cervical stenosis. Supra-aortic trunks lesions and endovascular treatment.

3. Surgery of cerebral hemorrhages and stroke

4. Surgery of cerebral trauma and tumors

5. Spine diseases and new minimally invasive techniques for pain

6. New technologies in the management of intracranial and spine lesions.

He regularly participates in international congresses and courses and is active reviewer of leading medical journals
