Hadassah's Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center provides the highest standards of care and has earned a reputation for being a leading center in treating Cystic Fibrosis in Israel and the Middle East. Our well trained staff is here to pave the way for quality treatment and care, as soon as you walk through our doors. We are a diverse group of professionals treating our patients in their language of choice, with the highest level of respect regardless of race, religion or nationality. We strive to fulfil our mission each and every day.

Our  Center cares for patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a genetic disease that affects about 1 out of 5000 children in Israel. CF is a complicated, chronic condition that impacts multiple organs in the body. Patients visiting the center receive same day medical advice and therapy from our physicians, dietitians, physiotherapists, and social workers.

Our Multidisciplinary Team

Proper treament of Cf demands a widespread, multidisciplinary team to address each problem; guide the exacting treatments; and provide regular follow up. We provide this kind of integrated care to optimally treat the many issues our CF patients experience. This approach allows the patients, and their families, to take advantage of the skills of the center's many experts, and promotes the patient's quality and length of life.

Working as a multidisciplinary team is one of the most important characteristics of our center. Our team, lead by Prof. Eitan Kerem, is composed of:

  • 5 pulmonologists
  • 3 resident pulmonologists
  • 2 gastroenterologists who also specialize in child nutrition
  • 1 endocrinologist
  • 5 nurses, including our head nurse who coordinates the various treatments
  • 1 dietician
  • 2 physiotherapists
  • 1 social worker
  • 1 psychologist
  • 2 pulmonary lab technicians
  • 1 Sherut Leumi volunteer
  • 1 art therapist
  • crafts teachers
  • volunteers

We meet weekly to stay up to date, as well as form the subsequent treatment plan for each patient. While, once a month, our team members, or guest lecturers, conduct a teaching seminar regarding clinical subjects or basic science topics related to the disease. We know that by working as a multidisciplinary team, each of the team's members reaches their optimal level of expertise and thus gives the best treatment for the patient. They also serve as a resource for learning, guidance, support and encouragement for the patients and their families.

When patients arrive at our center for a routine check-up, they receive counseling from a team that works together simultaneously, and provides an immediate response to their needs. If they encounter any questions or problems, we are available 24/7. They know they are receiving the best treatment from caring professionals.

Our center operates within the Pediatric Chronic Disease Center at Hadassah's Mt. Scopus hospital. It is an authorized CF center and works in cooperation with
