Head Cystic Fibrosis Center: Prof. Kerem Eitan
Treating a patient with Cystic Fibrosis is a complicated process that requires a widespread multidisciplinary team approach for each patient individually. Therefore there is a need for meticulous treatment and follow up in centers of care. This system allows the patients' families to take advantage of the skills of the center's experts and promote the quality of the patients' lives as well as their life expectancies.
We believe that by working as a multidisciplinary team each of the team's members can reach their optimal level of expertise and thus provide the best treatment for the patient while serving as a resource for learning, guidance, support and encouragement for the patients and their families.
One of the most important characteristics of our center is working as a multidisciplinary team which includes: 2 pulmonologists, 2 gastroenterologists who also specialize in child nutrition, 2 dietitians, a physiotherapist, a social worker, a psychologist, a pulmonary lab technician and a Sherut Leumi volunteer. The team also includes an art therapist, crafts teachers and volunteers. The treatment is assembled by the head nurse of the CF Center. When patients arrive at the center for a routine check-up they receive counseling from a team that works simultaneously and provides immediate response to the patients' and families' needs.
Once a week we have a staff meeting in order to update the entire team as well as form a plan for the following treatment for the patients. Once a month there is a teaching seminar instructed by the multidisciplinary team members or guest lecturers, regarding clinical subjects or basic science topics related to the disease.
The Center works in cooperation with The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Israel
